Belle

There is a film on the horizon based on the real life story about Dido Elizabeth Belle, (1761 - 1804) the Mixed-Race daughter of Naval Officer John Lindsay and a slave named Belle. According to IMDB.com, the film, Belle,  is in post-production and is expected to be in theaters by spring of 2013. Not many details have been released as of yet but how exciting to think there was a real life Mixed-Race aristocrat in 18th century England?

Let's put this on the "Watch Out For" List.

New Americans Rise of the Multiracial: a Documentary

I discovered this film online today, it is a work in progress according to the website New Americans. I could not tell from the website how far along they are in their production, but I have contacted the filmmakers via their website, and hope there is a way for me to be involved. From the trailer alone, I was hooked. I not only want to see this film, I need to see it.  I look forward to what Eli Steele does with this work. Please watch the trailer below, visit the website, and make a contribution.

 Yelling to the Sky

Yelling to the Sky, is a film about a biracial teenaged girl, Sweetness O'Hara, trying to fit in to a world that doesn't appear to have room for her. She has a troubled home life and is threatened by girls at school that find her too different for their comfort. Yelling to the Sky has screened at Berlin, SXSW, and a number of other international film festivals. I am on the hunt to see it in Boston. Keep you posted if I can.
