About Me

Hello, my name is Sharmane. You can call me "Sharmane" or "Maney" but please never call me "Shar."

I am a multifaceted, efficient, and project oriented administrative professional by day and an Entertainment Business graduate student working towards a career in film distribution by night. Years ago, I went to film school to become a filmmaker but I managed to never make a film of my own. After many years working in both the film and business industries I now want to help multiracial filmmakers get their films seen. With a diverse set of skills that include administrative support, marketing assistance, event planning, video production/editing, project and operations management, I am well suited for the world of film distribution.

Personally, I am a mixed girl of Black, Japanese, Irish, English, German, and Black-Seminole Native American decent. As a multiracial child, I rarely ever saw movies where the characters seemed like me. Parents were either White,  Black, or Asian, and so were their children but no one on TV or in movies ever looked the way my family looked. I feel it is important for multiracial people to have representatives in the media to look up to as role models and to feel represented in the world. In a nutshell, I am a mixed-girl and I want to move other mixed-folk's pictures.
